What do you like about transport within Weybridge town centre?

Very little. There is too much traffic through the high street as not enough bus services to get people out of their cars. Your proposal to close Elgin Road will increase this. Houses on Baker St have increased in value, while people who live in the town centre are suffering more from pollution.

What do you dislike about transport within Weybridge town centre?

Traffic is stalled through the high street because Baker St has been closed off to through traffic. This has caused more traffic through the high street and along hanger hill. The traffic is backed-up and emissions are getting worse. Your proposal to close Elgin Road will increase this. Houses on Baker St have increased in value, while people who live in the town centre are suffering more from polution.

What do you like about transport within Weybridge town centre?

Like the fact that there are plans to improve things for pedestrians, cyclists and users of public transport. Currently our town centre is dominated by 25000 vehicle journeys a day through Weybridge, so anything to improve town centre life for pedestrians and cyclists is very welcome.

What do you dislike about transport within Weybridge town centre?

Crossing the A317 at the Portmore Park Road / Balfour Road junction is currently deadly for cyclists and pedestrians, so improvement here is much needed. Very positive suggestions are extending the 20 Zone, making the Balfour PPR junction more visible with a raised and colourful junction, putting in the new pedestrian and cycle crossings across the A317 at this junction, plus stopping up Old Wharf Way to cars/vans, which will all help. An additional new pedestrian/cycle crossing across the end of PPR would improve pedestrian and cycle safety here further. Likewise there is a need to improve the impossibly narrow dual-use footpath/cycle path alongside the A317 between PPR and the Weybridge Road bridge, and to extend the 20MPH Zone and hence slow traffic entering Weybridge in that section of road approaching the Balfour Road / PPR junction with its current low visibility mini roundabout. Ditto, there is a need to extend the 20 Zone further up Heath Road, to help calm traffic approaching the Brooklands Lane junction. Road surface colour changes are needed at key points throughout the 20 Zone to draw drivers' attention to pedestrian tables and crossings, and at the start of the 20 Zone, and past schools. Also more 20 Zone roundels, and other speed inhibiting markings, especially on the road surace (where drivers look). Some of us not only live here, but also access the town centre variously on foot, by car, and by cycle -- but feel unreasonably vulnerable when cycling in our town, which would otherwise be our preferred frequent and green means of local transport. Rat run traffic is a major issue for residents around the Portmore Park district -- more calming measures and road markings (20 Zone roundels/colour changes) are needed in PPR, St Albans Ave, Dorchester Road and along Thames Street / Walton Lane.
